Planning Granted for Goring Gap Boat Club

03.06.14

Goring Gap Boat Club have been granted planning to build a new boat house on land owned by the Estate on the River Thames at Lower Basildon.

The GGBC was founded in 1991 with the aim of enabling local people to enjoy the beautiful stretch of The River Thames through rowing. In 1992 the Club revived the Goring & Streatley Regatta which started in 1888 but ceased at the outbreak of the First World War. The Regatta is now held annually in July on it’s original site at Bishop’s field in Goring. Over 600 people take part in the regatta with up to 6,000 people coming along to join in the fun.

GGBC and the Estate have committed significant resources to ensure that GGBC can develop a permanent home which will enable rowing to flourish in the local community and everyone involved is delighted with the result.
